Elizabeth (Betty) Rawlins, a life-long resident of Ambler passed away on Dec 17, 2917 at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, George Rawlins, Jr. Betty was the daughter of the late Mae and Nelson Miller of Ambler. She was a graduate of Ambler High School and the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Nursing. She worked as a nurse at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania before taking time off to raise her children. She resumed her working career as a teacher's assistant at the Ambler Weekday Nursery School at the First Presbyterian Church of Ambler. She subsequently resumed her nursing career as a nurse at the former Ambler Rest Center where she worked for approximately 18 years and upon retirement she held the position of the Assistant Director of Nurses. Betty was a life time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ambler where she was active member of the Women's fellowship. She was a member of the former Ambler Junior Colony club. She served as an assistant Girl Scout leader for several years and was a member of the board of the Wissahickon Band parent's association during the time her children where in school. She is survived by two daughters, Sandy Rawlins of Ambler, and Pam (William) Richart of Horsham, son, George Rawlins III (Pam) of Windemere, FL and five grandchildren, William Richart III, Mark Richart, Matthew Richart, Audrey Rawlins and Connor Rawlins. Services to celebrate Betty's life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Ambler, 4 S Ridge Ave, Ambler PA 19002 on Thursday December 21, 2017 at 11AM. Friends may call on Wednesday at Shaeff-Myers Funeral Home, 145 Tennis Ave, Ambler PA 19002 from 6PM to 8PM, and also on Thursday from 10AM to 11AM at the church. The family asks that any memorials be directed to the First Presbyterian Church of Ambler or the American Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
