Florence Ruth Murphy

Florence Ruth Murphy went to be with the Lord on February, 1, 2019. She was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Florence and Walter Webb. Florence graduated from Germantown Friends School of Germantown and Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing in Baltimore, MD. She was a long time resident of Horsham, Pennsylvania. In her younger years, Florence was a member of Prospectville United Methodist Church and then Supplee Presbyterian Church for the last thirty years. She was a very active member of her church and served as a Sunday School teacher, youth leader, Deacon as well as various other positions. Florence is survived by her husband of many years, Harry F. Murphy Jr. and her sister Mary Elsie (Tim) Frazer of Schwenksville and preceded in death by her infant sister Kate. In addition, she is survived by her three children: Walter (Heather) Murphy of Bedminster, Lauren (Christopher) Hughes of Horsham and Charlotte (Zachary) Ofsharick of Conshohocken. Florence adored her 7 grandchildren: Erika Murphy and Justin O'Keefe, Calum, Nathanael and Claire Hughes, Jackson and Conor Ofsharick and a niece Alexandra and a nephew Benjamin Frazer. Florence enjoyed living in her 1860's farm house and tending to her many gardens. She enjoyed family vacations to Ocean City, NJ and the Adirondack Mountains in up state New York. Her passion for Genealogy led her to many trips to Philadelphia to the various archive buildings. Florence will be fondly remembered for her sense of humor, dedication to family and her love of the church. A Service of Thanksgiving for Florence Ruth Murphy will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at Supplee Presbyterian Church, 855 E. Welsh Road, Maple Glen, PA 19002. Family and friends may call from 10:00am to 11:00am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be be sent to the above church.
