Frederick “Fred” Albert Arnold, a lifelong resident of Ambler, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on April 6, 2025 at the age of 81.
Fred was born on March 24, 1944 in Abington, PA to the late Charles and Virginia (née Fox). He graduated in 1961 from Upper Dublin High School and went on to attend and graduate from the University of Cincinnati in 1965. He later earned a Master of Education from West Chester University.
Fred worked as an art teacher in the Upper Dublin School District for over 36 years at both the middle school and high school. He served on the Upper Dublin Hall of Fame committee for many years. He was also a devoted member of Calvary United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities but was known as the interior decorator, helping to decorate the church for holidays and with improvements to the building. Fred also enjoyed working in the garden, spending time with his grandchildren, and performing and directing musical theater. Those who knew him well or were in his art class knew his favorite saying, “Art is not an easy B!”.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Carol (née DuBois) Arnold; three sons, Charles (Kristin) Arnold, Nathaniel (Tina) Arnold, and Theodore Arnold; six grandchildren, Jake, Sean, Kyleigh, Sawyer, Andrew, and Colin; as well as a sister, Virginia Pennington.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, the late Charles Arnold.
