George W. Tomlinson, 88, of Blue Bell, PA, formerly of Fort Washington and Oreland, PA, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was the devoted husband of 63 years of Mary Tomlinson (nee Naples); beloved father of Charlene Donovan (Raymond), Denise Hunt (David), and Francine Tomlinson. He was predeceased by his son George W. Tomlinson Jr., his parents James and Clara Tomlinson, and his brother James Tomlinson. He is also survived by his grandchildren Christen Donovan Regan (Jeffrey), Michael Donovan (Madeline), Jennifer Donovan, Stephen Donovan, David Hunt, Daniel Hunt, Austin Tomlinson, and Lauren Tomlinson, his brother Edward Tomlinson, sister-in-law Nan Tomlinson, and daughter-in-law Sandra Tomlinson. George grew up in Northeast Philadelphia where he attended Frankford High School. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. During the early years of his marriage, he attended Temple University where he graduated cum laude with a degree in Business. He had a long career in accounting and finance, retiring as Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Finance. George always had a positive outlook and proclaimed every day that he was TERRIFIC, endearing him to everyone he met. He loved to travel for work and pleasure, routinely visiting Europe and many exotic destinations with the love of his life, Mary. They enjoyed a life filled with their shared interests for gourmet cooking, tennis, big band music and dancing, especially the jitterbug. He was always up for playing games that challenged the mind, including sudoku, chess, or bridge, but he also loved a good water gun fight with all his grandkids. He treasured time he spent with his family and referred to them as his Pride and Joy. George's special talent was entertaining crowds of all ages with jokes and magic tricks. He was well-known for his captivating card trick about Sam the Bellhop and the 654 Club. Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 259 Forest Avenue, Ambler, PA.
