Glenn Norman Rodgers, 70, of Lower Gwynedd, PA, passed away on December 18, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on October 25, 1954, in Newark, NJ, Glenn was the beloved son of the late Norman and Jane (née Loy) Rodgers. Raised in Parlin, NJ, in a hardworking and tight-knit family, Glenn cherished his extended family throughout his life. Glennenjoyed all sports and through his life, he was always watching a sporting event. He played Little League baseball until high school. He loved baseball so much that he went to Umpire school and umpired many town leagues through the years. He attended Sayreville War Memorial High School, where he competed as a vaulter on the gymnastics team. Glenn attended James Madison University, where he cultivated lifelong friendships. After college, he became part of the Big Brother Association and mentored many young boys.
In 1980, he moved to Pennsylvania for a new career opportunity and immediately met the love of his life, Kathleen Kerr. They married in 1983 and shared 41 joyful years together, raising three wonderful children and later welcoming two adored granddaughters. Glenn was a hands-on, devoted father, deeply involved in his children's lives, including coaching many of their teams. His family fondly remembers their treasured beach trips, ski vacations, and travels to Europe over the years.
Glenn enjoyed a highly successful career in software sales, holding key positions at Burroughs, MSA, SAP, and Sparta Systems. Known for his drive, determination, and sharp instincts, he approached life with unmatched energy and enthusiasm.
A true adventurer at heart, Glenn embraced life to the fullest. He was a passionate skier whose graceful and skilled technique was admired by many. Scuba diving brought him great joy—especially when he pushed the boundaries by diving with sharks. Glenn’s love for golf led to cherished trips each year with his golf buddies and many rounds with his children. His adventurous spirit took him on trips to Africa and remote Boy Scout expeditions with his sons, always seeking excitement and challenge.
A man of strong faith, Glenn was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ambler, where he served as a deacon and headed and was involved in numerous committees. His steadfast morals, unwavering faith, and zest for life left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.
Glenn’s passing leaves his family and friends with broken hearts, but they take comfort knowing he lived an extraordinary, fulfilling life. He is now skiing, scuba diving, and golfing alongside God, watching over his loved ones as they carry on his legacy.
Glenn’s memory will be cherished by his beloved wife, Kathleen (née Kerr) Rodgers; his sons, Brian (Caroline) Rodgers and Gavin (Veronica) Rodgers; his daughter, Tara (Patrick) Gilmore; and his precious granddaughters, Filomena and Ines Rodgers. He is also survived by his brother, Gary (Judy) Rodgers; his sister, Jill Gillis; and his extended family: William (Lisa) Kerr, James (Rachael) Kerr, Daniel (Dottie) Kerr, Timothy (Jennifer) Kerr, and Helen (Chris) Chappell, along with many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
All are invited to celebrate Glenn’s remarkable life on Friday, December 27, 2024 at the First Presbyterian Church of Ambler, 4 S Ridge Ave, Ambler, PA 19002. Visitation is from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be immediately after the service at St. John Neumann Cemetery.
