Homer Jennings Sims, 96, of Horsham, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday March 30th, 2022.
Homer was born on August 26,1925 in La Prairie, Illinois to Elisha Jasper and Hannah Elizabeth Sims (nee White).
After Homer graduated from La Prairie High School in 1942 he went on to study Science and Chemistry at Western Illinois University and then the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
In 1952, Homer married Betty Louise Mills at Champaign, Illinois. Homer and Betty went on to have three children, David, Eric and Pamela.
After graduating with his PhD in Chemistry, he relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Homer was a veteran of World War II and served with the United States Army in the Persian Gulf Command from 1944 to 1946.
Homer was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Howard Sims. Homer was married to Betty for 64 years until her death in 2016.
Homer is survived by his son David J Sims and his wife Kimberly Vile, his son Eric Sims and his wife Jo Ann, and his daughter Pamela Ryder and husband Bernard Ryder.
Grandchildren are Jason and Nathan Sims; Shannon DeBellis; James, Matthew, and Melissa Ryder. Great grandchildren are Evelyn, Judah, and Elizabeth Sims; Mario and Dahlia DeBellis.
Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Foundation or The Wounded Warrior Project, organizations Homer felt strongly about.
