John David Heckman of Blue Bell, PA passed away on October 1 st , 2015. John was an insurance professional for over 40 years and an avid car, boat and motorcycle enthusiast. His love of Porsches went back to his teenage years. He was an active member of the Porsche Club of America: Riesentoter Region where he served the club in many roles including President and Track Instructor. His love of boating started even earlier when he spent his summers on the Metedeconk River in New Jersey. He was a member of the Main Line Power Squadron and the Sassafras River Yacht Club. When he wasn't in a car or riding a motorcycle, you would find him on his boat with his wife and friends on the Sassafras River at Skipjack Cove Marina. John was a church member at the First Presbyterian Church of Ambler and a member of the church choir. Born in Philadelphia to Rodman and Doris (nee Pole) Heckman, he was a graduate of Radnor High School and Alderson Broaddus University. He is survived by his wife, Lillian, daughter Kate, stepdaughter Leanne, as well as his brothers and sisters-in-law Rod and Cathy Heckman, Tom and Mary Jo Heckman, his sister Jane Moore and his niece Amanda Grim. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Ambler, 4 S Ridge Ave, Ambler PA 19002, on October 15 th , 2015 at 11:00 AM. There will be a calling hour at 10:00 AM to celebrate John's inspiring life and reflect on the joyful times he shared with friends and family.
