John E. Riley, Jr.

John Elliott Riley, Jr. passed away peacefully at the Artman Lutheran Home on June 13th, 2022 at the age of 98.

Born in Philadelphia on September 13th, 1923 to the late John Elliot Riley, Sr. and Helen Elizabeth Riley (née Holland). He attended Germantown High School and went on to earn an associate’s degree from Temple University. John honorably served in the United States Army during World War II and earned a Purple Heart.

John served as the Vice-President for E. Allen Reeves Inc. John was a member of the Jenkintown Rotary for more than 50 years. He was also a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ambler.

John is survived by his loving and devoted wife Helen Riley (née Hite); three daughters: Patricia Fischer, Sandra Johnson, Dale Barker (John); one son: John Riley III (Susan); 11 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Mae Leonard; daughter, Debbie, five sisters and one brother.

A service to honor John’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22nd at the First Presbyterian Church of Ambler, 4 S Ridge Avenue, Ambler, PA 19002. Family and friends may call at the church beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the service. At the request of the family, masking will be mandatory. Interment with full military honors to follow at George Washington Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s name may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Charitable Service Trust.
