LOIS (EMERICH) PETERSON, a resident of Ambler PA since 1954, died on October 12, 2017 in Woodbridge, VA. Lois was born April 19, 1929 in San Mateo, CA daughter of LeRoy E. and Daisy (Schmidt) Emerich. She was Alumna of Abington High School, class of 1947, and Wilson College, Chambersburg, PA, cum laude graduate of class of 1951. Widow of Walter L. Peterson, who passed away in 2008 after nearly 56 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by siblings Richard L. Emerich, David W. Emerich, and Ruth E. Kane. Mourning her loss are her children Bruce (Phyllis) Peterson of New Orleans, LA, Craig (Judith) Peterson of Woodbridge, VA, and Wendy (Edward) Flickinger of Ambler, PA, her Grandchildren: Sarah (Sean) Wimberley of Philadelphia, PA, Caroline Peterson of Woodbridge, VA, and James Flickinger of Ambler, PA. Also surviving are two Great Grandchildren: Olivia Wimberley and Jackson Wimberley, and her Sisters-in-law: Marlene Emerich of Hatboro, PA, Genevieve Cutshall of Harrisburg, PA and Winnifaye Peterson of Harrisburg, PA. She will also be missed by special Emerich & Schmidt cousins, a nephew & nieces & their families, dear neighbors & lunch pals, and innumerable friends of her children whom she considered her own. This extended family includes: Cathy Petersen, Susan (Gerry) Henderson, Beth Kane, Ray (Gwen) Shaffer, John Sonneborn, Angela (Anastasios) Pelekanos, The Wahl and Kunzier families. She was a member of Abington High School Alumni Association; USS Casa Grande LSD-13 Reunion Association; American Legion Auxiliary, Simpson-Hunt Post 0107, Mount Union, PA; SAAC Ambler; Weavers Way Ambler Food Co-op. Known for her love of travel, books, crossword puzzles, stamped cross-stitch, faithful correspondences, church volunteer work, surprising friends with clipped newspaper cartoons...and learning to drive at age 76! A visitation will be held on Thursday October 19th from 6PM to 8PM at Shaeff-Myers funeral home 145 Tennis Ave, Ambler PA 19002. A funeral mass will be on Friday October 20th at 11am at First Presbyterian Church Ambler, 4 S Ridge Ave, Ambler PA 19002. Friends and family may call at the church on Friday from 10AM to 11AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to her church, FPC Ambler, 4 S. Ridge Avenue, Ambler, PA 19002. Please note "Library" on the memo line.
