Margaret "Midge" McGann of Horsham, Pennsylvania passed away at home on September 2nd after a brief illness. She was 94. Born in Collingdale, Pennsylvania, she was the youngest of six children of the late Charles and Addie Mae Holden. Midge graduated from Upper Darby High School in 1939. For 54 years she was the wife of James Augustine McGann III who preceded her in death. In 1973 the couple began spending winters in Hawaii assisting in humpback whale research. It was during that time that she picked up the moniker "Maui Midge" and became known for her whale photography. Midge was a longtime member of Supplee Memorial Presbyterian Church in Maple Glen. She enjoyed her church activities, knitting, the Phillies, visiting Hawaii, but especially her family. She has five children: George R. McGann (Mary) of Ocean City, Susan M. Dunswell of Horsham, Margery H. McGann of Wayne, the late James A. McGann IV (Kim) of Petaluma, California, and Robert B. McGann (Teri) of Fort Washington. Margaret's eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren have enjoyed her love and example through her memorable life. Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service Monday, September 7th, 11 A.M. at the Supplee Memorial Presbyterian Church, 855 E. Welsh Rd., Maple Glen PA 19002. Friends may call on Monday from 10 to 11 A.M. at the church. Interment private. Arrangements by Shaeff-Myers Funeral Home, Ambler.
