Nancy H. Lange, age 94, a long-time resident at Fort Washington Estates (FWE) of Fort Washington, Pa, formerly of Ambler, and Maple Glen, Pa passed away on April 22, 2024. She was born in Lewisburg, PA, the daughter of Dr. Francis B. Hitchcock and Anne H. Dickey of Lewisburg, PA. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Lisa (John Reeve) and is survived by a daughter Heidi (Roy Stiles) and two sons David (Julie Regnier) and Richard (Holly Lange) and six grandchildren - Nate Regnier-Lange, Ben Regnier-Lange, Emily Stiles (Justin Koniuk), Colleen Stiles (William Huddleston) and Brandon and Summer Lange and great-grandchild Amber. Nancy attended high school in Lewisburg, PA graduating in 1946 and attended Bucknell University, graduating with a BS in 1951. Nancy returned to the classroom and received her Masters in Information and Library Science at age 61 from Drexel University. Nancy was a passionate librarian, working for many years as a medical librarian for Springhouse Corporation and volunteering for several local libraries, such as the Blue Bell Library, and the library of the First Presbyterian Church (FPC) of Ambler.
Her volunteer work also extended to Abington Memorial Hospital where she worked for 30 years in the recovery room greeting patients after their surgery and keeping the operating room team well supplied with a drawer full of candy. She had a deep Christian faith as a 50+ year member of First Presbyterian Church (FPC) of Ambler and loved singing as a member of several local choirs, including the FPC Ambler Choir and FWE Choreleers. She was also a member of the Mastersingers, a chorus that performed a range of choral works from the Baroque and traveled internationally extensively, including visiting the home of the Sound of Music in Salzburg Austria.
A memorial service will be held on May 17, 2024 at 10:30 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Ambler, with visiting hours from 9:30AM to 10:30AM. Interment at Hillside Cemetery will be held privately for family members. Following the burial a reception from 12:30 to 2:30 PM will be held at Fort Washington Estates, 735 Susquehanna Rd, Fort Washington.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to First Presbyterian Church of Ambler or the ACTS Samaritan Fund at Fort Washington Estates.
