Sandra Goodwin Samkavitz

Sandra Goodwin Samkavitz of Dresher, PA died of lung cancer on August 4, 2015. She was born in Philadelphia, PA on October 11, 1934 to Luther Reid Goodwin and Kathryn Underkoffler Goodwin. She was the wife of the late William Samkavitz. After graduating from the Philadelphia High School for Girls in 1952, she was employed as a clerk-stenographer and later a buyer for the federal government for 36 years. She retired from the Naval Aviation Supply Depot in 1988. She attended Messiah Lutheran Church for over 50 years and then became active at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, serving as treasurer of the women's group. She was a valued member and treasurer of The Mastersingers from 1984-2012 and was part of the Ambler Choral Society from 2012-2015. Survivors are a sister, Gail Goodwin Reilley of Jeffersonville, PA, nephews Robert J Reilley, Jr. (Jill) of Pottstown, PA and Steven W Reilley (Sheila) of Hatboro, PA, 4 great nieces and 1 great nephew. Also surviving are stepsister Chris Cassidy, stepbrothers David Adams and Stephen Adams, stepson William Samkavitz, stepdaughter Peggy Flynn (Larry) and 4 step grandchildren. A service will be held at Shaeff-Myers Funeral Home, 145 Tennis Ave, Ambler PA on August 12, 2015 at 11:00am. Friends may call after 10am. Internment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, 80 Stenton Ave, Plymouth Meeting, PA. Donations may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 6344 N Broad St, Philadelphia PA 19141 and the Montgomery County SPCA, 19 E Ridge Pike, Conshohocken PA 19428.
